This policy explains how Jennifer Mak for Torrance Unified School District 2026 (the "Campaign," "we," "us") handles information collected through www.jennifermakfortusd.com (the "Site").
Information you give us
When you sign up on the Site, we collect your email address and, if you choose to share them, your ZIP code and the ways you would like to help (volunteering, attending a meet and greet, or hosting one).
Donations
Donations are processed by PayPal on PayPal's own pages. We do not see or store your card or bank details. PayPal shares the information needed to record your contribution, such as your name, email, address and amount. California campaign finance law requires us to collect and report certain contributor details, including occupation and employer for contributions of $100 or more, and those reports are public. PayPal's use of your information is covered by PayPal's privacy policy.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to run and secure the Site. The Site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when a page loads.
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site, such as which pages are read and how people arrive. It sets first-party cookies and collects information like pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type. We have turned off Google signals and advertising features, and we do not use this information to identify you. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
How we use information
- To send campaign updates, voting reminders and event invitations
- To organize volunteers and meet and greets
- To meet our legal and reporting obligations
How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the campaign, such as Google (where signups are stored), our email service, PayPal and Vercel, and only as needed for them to provide their services. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, including in required campaign finance reports.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any message, or by emailing jennifermakforschoolboard@gmail.com. You can also ask us to see, correct or delete the information we have about you.
Do Not Track
We do not track visitors across other websites, so the Site works the same way whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track signal.
Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect the information we collect. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date.
