While canvassing, Jennifer knocked on the door of Donna Bobb, the former school nurse at Riviera Elementary, who cared for Jennifer’s oldest son, Joe, when he started first grade there. For Jennifer, a working mom at the time, Donna was one of the staff members who made sure her child was cared for when she couldn’t be there.
In Jennifer’s words
What a wonderful surprise during our canvassing the other day! When Donna Bobb, the former school nurse at Riviera Elementary, opened the door for us, I was so happy to see her!
Seeing Donna brought back so many memories of when our oldest son, Joe, started first grade at Riviera.
As a working mom, I remember leaving Joe’s nebulizer in Donna’s office. Knowing it was there gave me such peace of mind. If his asthma flared up at school, I knew he was in good hands.
Donna also reminded me of the phone call she made when Joe fell on the playground and his two front teeth were pushed into his gums. I still remember that call — and how I immediately dashed to Riviera. Thankfully, I was able to get Joe to the dentist, and his teeth were extracted the next day.
Looking back, it truly takes a village to care for our children at school. Donna was one of those incredible staff members who gave me reassurance as a working mom and helped me know that my child would be cared for when I couldn’t be there.
Thank you, Donna, for your years of dedicated service and for being one of those caring adults who made such a difference in our children’s lives! It was so wonderful to see you again!
Our schools are stronger because of the people who care for our children every day.
