Jennifer and her husband have been going door to door since June, listening to and talking with neighbors and residents across Area D.
It started with a question from her husband: “You sure you want to knock on people’s door? What if they don’t open their door?” Jennifer’s answer: “Well, if you don’t knock on the door, how would you know?”
They began on their own street. Meeting neighbors, she says, has been the most rewarding part of the campaign. “If you want to listen, everybody has a story to tell.”
Residents have shared their hopes for Torrance Unified with her, and she has been moved by how open people are. “The kindness, it just captivates my heart.” For Jennifer, those conversations are also the job itself: “You cannot lead until you listen.”
