Short stops on the trail

Three short moments from early October: a doorstep reunion with Dr. Harpole, a visit to the Walteria PTA, and a return trip to deliver yard signs to neighbors Jennifer first met in July.

“You look familiar!”

“You look familiar!” Dr. Harpole said when she opened the door.

What a wonderful surprise to reconnect with Dr. Harpole and her husband while canvassing for my school board campaign! Little did I know that I was knocking on the door of a familiar face from our children’s days at Riviera.

Dr. Harpole graciously invited me in, and we had a wonderful, lengthy conversation about my school board campaign. She and her husband enthusiastically agreed to put a campaign yard sign on their front lawn. Even more thoughtful, they walked me a few houses down to introduce me to a neighbor who was a friend of our youngest son, Tim!

It’s moments like these that make campaigning so meaningful—not just sharing my passion for public education, but also reconnecting with wonderful people who have been part of our family’s journey.

Thank you, Dr. Harpole and your husband, for your warm welcome, encouragement, and support! What a lovely reminder of the lasting connections we build through our schools and community.

Walteria PTA

It was such a pleasure to speak at the Walteria PTA meeting and see parents and teachers coming together to support meaningful causes and make a positive impact on students’ lives!

Wishing everyone an amazing and successful school year!

Back with yard signs

This afternoon, we returned to some of the neighbors we met in early July to drop off our yard sign. While we were in the area, I stopped by one neighbor’s home because I had been thinking about his daughter and wondering how she was doing in the new school year. We had a wonderful conversation with her dad and reminded him of a few ways he can continue advocating for his daughter.

I also stopped by another neighbor’s home simply to say hello. He shared with us about the different home improvement projects they’ve worked on over the past few years and even invited us up to their hillside backyard to take a look. After climbing the stairs, we were greeted by a breathtaking view! We spent some time chatting with the couple before saying our goodbyes.

Campaigning is about so much more than asking for a vote or putting a yard sign on private property. It’s about building genuine relationships, listening to our neighbors, checking in, and making sure things are going well. We are grateful for every conversation, every connection, and every opportunity to serve.

We love our Area D residents!
