What Ms. Becerra’s classroom taught me

When Jennifer first met Xochitl Becerra, a Cotsen Mentor and National Board Certified Teacher at Castle Heights Elementary, she was impressed by how Ms. Becerra drew out students’ thinking during math lessons. Ms. Becerra has endorsed Jennifer for School Board, and this is Jennifer’s thank-you.

In Jennifer’s words

When I first met Ms. Becerra at Castle Heights Elementary School, I was immediately impressed by her ability to draw out students’ thinking during math lessons. Her students were engaged, confidently articulated their thinking, and extended their mathematical reasoning. Her teaching left such a lasting impression on me!

Thank you, Ms. Becerra, for writing such an amazing endorsement! You taught me more than you probably realized, and I am truly grateful for all that you do each day to make a difference in the lives of young learners. Your impact reaches far beyond your classroom, and I am so thankful to have learned from you!

“She recognizes that supporting teachers is essential to supporting students, and she has consistently demonstrated her commitment to both.”
